Borrowing and Renewing
All you need to know about borrowing items from the library.
All ATU Donegal students and staff automatically become members of their campus libraries. Your college ID card is also your library membership card. You will need your card for both the information desk and the self service unit, located in the Letterkenny campus.

- Undergraduate Students can borrow a maximum of four items
- Postgraduate Students can borrow a maximum of ten items
- Book loans can be renewed online at via this link
- Books and other library material may be borrowed for two weeks with up to 2 renewals allowed for some material
- Theses and heavily used material are kept at the information desk and may be borrowed for up to 1 hour from Desk Reserve
- Journals can be borrowed for 3 days
- Reference books can only be used in the library
What happens if my books are overdue?
Overdue books
Books should be returned promptly to the Library. Overdue library book(s) will result in your library account being suspended for 24 to 48 hours. Severely overdue library book(s) may result in your college network account being disabled.
Reserving items that are out on loan
Items that are out on loan can be reserved on the library website or by asking a member of the library staff at the Information Desk.
Inter campus loans between ATU Donegal campus libraries
Items that are held in the Killybegs library can also be borrowed. You can reserve them on the library website or ask a member of staff at the information desk to reserve the item for you.
Inter Library Loans
Items that are not held in ATU Donegal Library can be obtained by using our inter library loan service. Loans from other IT Libraries are free of charge. Online ILL requests can be made here
